SDICC Video| Poetic and Picturesque 72 Springs: Jinxian Spring
"In here. Take a look this way. See it? It's very clear!”
Visitors to Jinan's Baotu Spring Park are drawn to a little square-shaped pool instead of the Baotu Spring, the "Number One Spring under the Heaven". What is it?
“Do you see it? There is a golden thread here.”
“Here it is!”
“I see it! I see it!”
It is the Golden Thread Spring.
A delicate thread is rippling in the small pool with carved railings around in the northeast corner of Baotu Spring Park, striking a chord in people's hearts. If you only glance at it while passing by, you will miss its charm.
Looked closely, a golden thread is faintly discernible on water surface, dividing the water into two pieces of amber.“Bubbles constantly float to the surface from the pool's bottom. A golden thread swayed on the water's surface.”
Zeng Gong, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, revealed the mystery:
Two springs are steadily gushing out beneath the calm surface. They flow in equal amounts, as if they were competing. The crescent can be seen reflected in the water, which is used to make tea.
When poets Su Zhe, Yuan Haowen, and Zhang Yanghao came to visit, they all penned poems about it under the lamp.
The golden thread spring gradually faded after the Ming and Qing dynasties, yet a fresh spring appeared not far away, which is the current Golden Thread Spring.
This unhurriedly swinging thread may provide us with life inspiration: The key to going farther is to maintain an even balance and lean on one another.
